And I only keep this journal around so I can comment with icons. That's just sad.
Ah, well. I've got a different journal, anyways.

Well, yesterday was fun. I had rehersal for four hours, but since three of my closest friends are in the cast, we had fun during the lunch break. I'm crew, so I couldn't hang out with them between scenes. However, I got chocolate...mm, chocolate.
When I got home, I read a lot and cleaned my room. I finished Bowery Girl recently, and I'm working on Diane Duane's Young Wizard series. Reading fanfictions and journals is always fun, too...
My family was working in the yard, and my dad and sister and I went to the gardening store to get parts for one of our sprinklers, which is currently shooting water way high up in the air. Of course, the only place that we know has the parts was closed. -.-
After dinner, my dad and I went to a bluegrass concert. The group was 3 Fox Drive, and they are incredible. The lead singer is pretty, and she has an amazing voice. Actually, all three singers do (the group had 5 people, the lead singer/guitarist, the banjo player/baritone singer, the fiddler/tenor singer (who was also pretty!), the mandolin (I think) player, and the bass player) but she sang the most, so I noticed her voice more. They're not strictly traditional bluegrass-they're described as a 'bluegrass/country/rock' group, but they seemed mostly bluegrass and country. My dad thinks that a better label would be 'progressive bluegrass', and I agree. I'm not sure if he liked them as much, but I know I did-and he must have liked them some, or he wouldn't have let me get one of their CD's (which I'm listening to right now!)

One of my friends (we'll call her Aranel) jokes about how my other friend (we'll call her Micha) and I are in love, because I always tell what Micha is thinking/planning on doing at a glance. (Aranel seems to be thankful for this, however, since a lot of what Micha plans involves poking Aranel in the stomach and making her squeak.) And this bugs me, because I actually dislike the idea of being in love. I've got no clue why I'm posting this, but it just randomly occured to me and I had to write it down. So yeah.
On a different note, I just started Death Note, and it's so awesome! In the past two weeks, I've started reading Wolf's Rain, Gravitation, Death Note, Flame of Recca, and Shaolin Sisters, and enjoyed all of them.

So my school's doing a Jr. version of Guys and Dolls, and since I'm tech, I got my own complete script (which I'm not using, since I got a cue sheet which is much easier to use during performances) which, of course, includes all of the music. And I was looking through the songs (specifically 'I'll Know', sung by Sarah Brown/Sky Masterson) and noticed that Sarah's part specifically refers to her 'love' as a man, while Sky's just says 'my love.' And for no apparent reason, that got me looking at the lyrics for the title song 'Guys and Dolls' and the first lyrics are 'When you see a guy/Reach for stars in the sky/You can bet that he's doin' it for some doll/When you spot a John waiting out in the rain/Chances are he's insane/as only a John can be for a Jane'. Which bugged me to no end (specifically the 'John and Jane' lyrics), because it says, basically, that guys can only like girls. -twitches- I hate school musicals, specifically the love songs.
Actually, the only type of love songs I don't mind are the ones with no gender connotations at all.

I noticed-again-that I have very bizarre tastes in music. On one hand, I adore any type of classical or Celtic music. In the car, the first thing I do is turn to the classical station. Then on the other hand, my iPod is about two-thirds folk and country music (i.e. Eliza Gilkyson, Tom Russell, Nancy Griffith, Lucinda Williams, etc.). Mixed in with this is assorted 'old' rock (Simon and Garfunkel, Beatles, etc.). And then there's the modern rock/alternative/etc. Don't even get me started on show tunes.
It's just really funny-I've got Evanescence following songs from Jesus Christ Superstar following Beethoven following My Chemical Romance. So yeah.
